Licensing

Watchgrid uses a local licensing system with no phone-home or telemetry. Licenses are Ed25519-signed keys validated entirely on your server.

Editions

Community Edition — Free

  • Up to 10 devices (services and admin devices don't count)
  • No time limit
  • All core features: WireGuard VPN, Magic DNS, SSH CA, Docker Registry, K3s orchestration, web dashboard, SSH terminals, 2FA, PostgreSQL, location tracking
  • Self-hosted only
  • Community support

Business Edition

  • Unlimited devices
  • Everything in Community plus: multi-tenancy, fleet analytics, audit logging, API access, automated backups
  • SaaS hosted or self-hosted
  • Business hours support (Mon–Fri, 9am–6pm CET), 24-hour response time
  • 99.5% SLA
  • Annual billing: 15% discount

Enterprise Edition

  • Unlimited devices
  • Everything in Business plus: 5-day implementation assistance, HA options, custom SSH policies, compliance reporting, dedicated account manager, 40 hours custom development/year
  • SaaS, self-hosted, or air-gapped
  • 24/7/365 support, 1–4 hour response time
  • 99.9% SLA
  • 100+ devices: custom pricing

License Management

Go to System → License to manage your license.

License Status

The page displays:

  • Current status — Trial Mode Active, License Active, or No Active License
  • Device usage — devices used vs. limit, with progress bar
  • Expiry date and days remaining
  • Server information — version and ID

Activating a License

  1. Obtain a license key from Watchgrid sales
  2. Go to System → License
  3. Paste the license key into the Activate License field
  4. Click Activate

The license is validated locally using Ed25519 signature verification.

Revoking a License

Click Revoke License (with confirmation) to remove the active license and revert to Community Edition limits.

Trial Mode

Without a license, Watchgrid runs in trial mode:

  • Full functionality, no feature restrictions
  • Maximum 10 devices (services and admin devices are free and don't count)
  • No time limit — use it forever

If you exceed the device limit, the Dashboard shows a warning banner with a link to License Management.

Payment

  • Monthly billing (default)
  • Annual billing — 15% discount
  • Accepted: credit card, SEPA direct debit, purchase orders (Enterprise)
  • EU VAT included
